Mr. Ken Mayers- Mountbatten Medal
Mr. Ken Mayers received the highest Rescue Commendation in the form of The Mountbatten Medal (in honour of Lord Mountbatten) for a most outstanding rescue carried out in Bathsheba area –Soup Bowl in 1991.
The Mountbatten Medal is a rescue commendation medal of bravery. The medal is contested throughout the entire Commonwealth among personnel who hold a Royal Lifesaving Society’s Certificate. Applicants submit names and information about the rescues, which have been performed in their individual territories, which involved displaying a great degree of bravery.
A panel of the Royal Lifesaving Society – Commonwealth’s hierarchy examines the rescue and award the rescue commendation medal (Mountbatten Medal) for the most difficult and bravest rescue.
