Sea Bathers Asked to Exercise Extra Caution

In anticipation of the upcoming summer holidays and in an effort to reenergize and reinvigorate lifeguards to continue to efficiently undertake their duties, the National Conservation Commission will be hosting a retreat for its complement of staff on Wednesday, June 22, 2011.

The general public is therefore advised that the seventeen (17) beaches around the island which are currently supervised by lifeguards will not be manned on the aforementioned date.

The Commission remains focussed and committed to providing a safe environment at our beaches and assures the general public that full supervision will resume on June 23, 2011.

Persons choosing to swim during this period are encouraged to exercise extra care and caution and to also to be aware of the following instructions:

. Do not overestimate your ability
. Stay within depth
. Do not consume alcohol on the beaches or prior to entering the water
. Never swim alone

Our Social Commitment..

The National Conservation Commission is committed to adding social value in all its endeavors. We are of the firm belief, that the growth of any nation is dependent on the growth of the society as a whole. Ensuring that a nation’s recreational requirements are met is of primary concern, especially in a hectic work environment. The Commission’s social commitment to the Barbadian community is well established and its mandate in this regard is wide and varied.
